For the fifth consecutive year, Wescom welcomed UCLA undergraduates for a paid summer internship program. This is part of our ongoing commitment to helping build better lives for our UCLA community, beyond offering financial education and financing options.
Since the program's inception in 2018, Bruin students have had the opportunity to work directly with Wescom team members and learn the day-to-day operations of the Credit Union.
Here's what some of our 2022 UCLA interns had to say:
Throughout my internship with Wescom, I have learned the importance of networking and heightened my people skills – all thanks to the Business Analytics Department and their welcoming culture. Wescom Credit Union has given me my first exposure into the world of finance; I hope to utilize both the technical and soft skills I have picked up on once I graduate this coming spring.
— Farabeed Khan, Business Analytics Intern
I admire Wescom's commitment to give back to their surrounding communities and I was interested in working for a company who values making a difference. I'm very interested in pursuing a career in Human Resource after undergrad and I believe with my time at Wescom I have gained valuable experience that can help me pursue my career goals.
— Odalis De La Cruz, Human Resources Intern
Interning with Wescom's Legal Affairs Department has allowed me to gain insight into the kind of work attorneys and paralegals do on a daily basis. It has also provided me with research skills that I believe will be very useful in my future career.
— Corina Kramer, Legal Affairs Intern
Over the course of my internship, I gained the hands-on experience I sought and learned how to conduct tangible research that would aid the institution in real-life. Throughout this process, I also learned how to elevate my leadership and communication skills by collaborating with my fellow interns and various department team members.
— Mary Lekatz-Wallace, UCLA Branch Intern
