Community is always at the forefront of Wescom’s purpose to build better lives for Southern Californians. Amid the pandemic that has shifted how we engage with our communities, Wescom continues to participate in virtual events and donate to non-profits organizations through The Wescom Foundation.
September 25, 2021 was a big day for the Foundation. More than 50 Wescom employees and their friends and family participated in the 2021 Susan G. Komen Virtual More Than Pink Walk. The Wescom Foundation also donated $5,000 to the Susan G. Komen fund, which is uniquely structured to fund four pillars — research, care, community, and action.
“The Wescom Foundation has been an important part of our team members’ lives for more than 20 years and it has been vital for the Foundation to offer them unique ways to continue to give back to their communities given our current climate,” said Tracey Flynn, Wescom Foundation Vice Chairperson. “Participating in virtual walks like these helps us feel connected even when we may be physically apart.”
Also, on that same day, the Foundation was the proud presenting sponsor of UCLA’s Annual Volunteer Day, which has become a cornerstone of the UCLA experience and is a day for Bruins and community members to come together and participate in a wide range of community service projects across Los Angeles.
“As a presenting sponsor of UCLA Volunteer Day, the Foundation joins UCLA to encourage the importance of serving the community not only in Southern California but around the world,” said Ashley White, Wescom Vice President, Partner Development. “Each year, the Foundation works with the UCLA Volunteer Center to collaborate on a special service project for Volunteer Day where we encourage Wescom team members to participate. Our goal is to have our UCLA affiliated members join us as well.”
As part of its commitment to critical human needs, the Foundation donated $5,000 to the UCLA Volunteer Center to support the purchase of hygiene kits for Bruin students who may be facing financial hardships.
