Wescom was one of seven credit unions who hosted International Credit Union (ICU) Day® celebrations throughout the state on October 17, 2024. Other Los Angeles County Credit Unions that joined included California Credit Union, Financial Partners Credit Union, Japanese American Community Credit Union, Pasadena Federal Credit Union, POLAM Federal Credit Union and SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union.
The celebrations kicked off with a presentation that demonstrated the credit union impact at a global, national, state, county and community level. Thereafter, Congresswoman Judy Chu, Congressman Brad Sherman, Senator Anthony Portantino, Assemblyman Mike Fong, and candidate for Assembly District 54 Mark Gonzalez, gave remarks. Several Wescom Wescom team members were also in attendance.
According to the World Council of Credit Unions, ICU Day celebrates the spirit of the global credit union movement. The day is recognized to reflect upon the credit union movement's history, promote its achievements, recognize hard work, and share member experiences. ICU Day has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October since 1948.
