Wescom is proud to recognize Black History Month, an annual observance of the extraordinary heritage, resilience, and contributions of Black Individuals throughout history. In February, we celebrated with initiatives that honor Black achievements, amplify Black voices, and advance equality across the diverse communities in which we serve.
Wescom matched up to $1,000 in sales at three local Black-owned coffee shops near our branches: HillTop Coffee in Inglewood, Coffee and Plants in Pasadena, and Good People Coffee Co. in Los Angeles. We encourage members to patronize these small businesses all year long.
Wescom also sponsored a gift card giveaway through our partnership with UCLA Alumni. Four Black-owned businesses from their network were featured on social media throughout the month.
Each week a lucky Bruin won a $100 gift card to one of the participating businesses. Wescom is the Official Banking Partner of the UCLA Alumni Association.
On February 17, Wescom team members joined the celebration at the Pasadena Black History Parade and Festival to honor the Black experience and leaders in our communities. As a credit union committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, we were happy to see other members who came out and celebrated with us.
