Wescom Celebrates 25th Year of Philanthropy
The Wescom Foundation marked its 25th year by matching member donations up to a total of $25,000. During the official giving period, May 7, 2024 through May 28, 2024, members made tax-deductible donations in the amount of $19,986.50 via wescom.org/donations, Online Banking, and the Wescom Mobile Banking App. With the Wescom matching donation pledge, a total of $39,973 will be donated to five nonprofit organizations.
Member-Giving Campaign Recipients
All donation recipients are long-time nonprofit partners that have been involved with the Foundation as Signature Grantees, employee-directed grantees, small grantees for volunteer activities, and/or received in-kind donations, such as school backpacks for children and holiday gifts for families.
Funds were awarded to five community nonprofit organizations:
- A Place Called Home: Provides gang-affected youth of South Los Angeles with a safe haven from the life-threatening dangers and temptations of the streets.
- House of Ruth: A comprehensive domestic violence agency based in Southern California, working to end partner abuse by offering housing, counseling, legal, and outreach services.
- Mend Each Need with Dignity® (MEND): Offers programs and services to meet immediate crisis needs and supports individuals in developing connections, skills, and resources to overcome long-term challenges.
- Thomas House Family Shelter: Provides housing support along with services and educational programs designed to foster independence and stability.
- Rancho Cielo: Offers vocational training and high school education in partnership with John Muir Charter Schools. Students can earn a WASC-accredited high school diploma (or equivalent) and are prepared to enter the workforce or enroll in post-secondary education. Rancho Cielo is a long-time nonprofit partner of Central Coast Federal Credit Union and has received grant support in the past.
Looking back on its 25 years of philanthropic activities, the Foundation has donated $4.9 million to date, supporting nonprofits since 1999. Since 2020, members have contributed more than $610,000 to support Wescom Foundation’s Giving Campaigns.
We want to thank our members, again, for making a Wescom difference!
