Respecting Others Through Diversity | Wescom Credit Union

As an organization of more than 200,000 members and 800 team members, it is likely that we will not always share the same opinions, perspectives, or beliefs. But it is this diversity and the respect we offer others in the face of our differences that makes us stronger.

As a mutually-owned institution, we support our communities in numerous ways. In recent months, we have made temporary updates to the Wescom logo in online banking, our mobile app, and on social media in recognition of various cultural holidays and observances, closed the Credit Union for Juneteenth, and announced our support of the UCLA Alumni Diversity Network Scholarship Program. We know that some of our members may disagree with some of our efforts from time to time, but we endeavor to do the right things for our membership as a whole as well as the communities we serve. We may not always get it right, but we are always open to hearing from our member-owners.

When we express our support or address polarizing issues as a Credit Union, we are guided by our core value of “mutual respect: value the individual; treat each person with dignity.” Further, we must demonstrate the ability to respect one another when there is a difference of perspective. We believe that diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging makes us stronger and our support of diverse organizations throughout Southern California helps to celebrate the differences and unique talents within our team members, members, and communities.
