Wescom Credit Union | Building Better Lives for Southern Californians

Wescom Observes Juneteenth as Credit Union Holiday

An Important Message from our President and CEO, Darren Williams

June 17, 2022

At Wescom, we believe that diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging makes us stronger and helps us serve the unique needs of our 200,000 plus members throughout Southern California. Staying true to our purpose of building better lives for all, we find it important to support and uplift our diverse communities by being active participants in creating positive change. So, for the second consecutive year, Wescom added Juneteenth (June 19) as an additional Wescom observed holiday and the Credit Union will be closed on Monday, June 20, 2022.

Although this day marks the celebration to the end of slavery, more than 150 years later we are still plagued with our country's difficult history of racial inequality and injustice that continues to persist through systemic racism. This is why it is essential for Wescom to recognize the significance and importance of Juneteenth by providing team members, members, and our communities with an opportunity to reflect, learn, and join in the name of freedom, justice, and the power of community. We thank you for joining us in making a difference in your communities and taking action against social injustice.
