We Stand With You
At Wescom, we are dedicated to our purpose of building better lives for Southern
California. But, this purpose means more than simply offering financial services and
education to help our members with their financial goals.
Building better lives means we need to be active participants in doing things to make
our communities better. To contribute our time and energy to have a positive impact on
the lives of our fellow community members.
Like most of you, I watched in horror the tragic event in Minnesota that has sparked the
need for outrage and peaceful protests. We should all be willing to protest and to speak
out against assault on the sanctity of human life. What happened to George Floyd was
wrong and that is irrefutable. I believe those who are peacefully protesting should be
admired for their courage to stand up and speak out.
We are listening and we are with you.
We recognize that there is so much that needs to be done to address issues of
discrimination and other systemic issues of injustice that plague our communities. We
know that real change will require long-term commitments that address social and
economic inequities. It starts with us listening. It starts with us joining in
solidarity. It starts by us doing something. It starts with our team.
As Team Wescom is dedicated to building better lives for our
members, we are equally dedicated to building better lives for our communities. That is
why, each of our nearly 800 team members are provided with paid time-off so they can get
involved in making change in our communities—so they can join in a peaceful protest, so
they can speak-up and stand with our fellow community members in a peaceful and positive
way and be an active part of this moment in history that is serving as an inflection
point for the needed change.
It’s a small step, but a step in the right direction.
We will continue to look for opportunities to serve the needs of our communities, to
continue to foster a culture of respect, diversity, inclusion, and equity.
We remain committed to bringing meaningful change that furthers our purpose of building
better lives for our members, our employees, and for all our Southern California
communities.
