Wescom Credit Union | Building Better Lives for Southern Californians

Making an Impact in Southern California

Focus on Service, Innovation, and Giving

October 2020

On Thursday, October 15, Wescom is joining credit unions around the world to celebrate International Credit Union (ICU) Day®. Although this year has presented unprecedented challenges, what hasn’t changed is the positive impact that credit unions continue to make in our communities. When you need us, we respond – that’s the credit union difference. This ICU day, we're focusing on the ways we can make a difference in our communities by reflecting on our founding principle that still holds up in today’s world of uncertainty: people helping people. The decisions we make today as an organization impact the lives of our members, team members, and communities tomorrow – so every positive contribution counts.

Helping you when you need it most has always been one of our values – and these challenging times have been no exception. As of October 2020, we’ve helped more than 8,000 members with payment assistance on their auto loans, personal loans, and credit cards. For those who are financially impacted by COVID-19, we offer deferment on mortgage and home equity payments, skip-a-payment for loans, and short-term, small-dollar loans. Our branch locations also remain open, with the same hours, to serve your banking needs.

Helping you when you need it most has always been one of our values — and these challenging times have been no exception. When we see opportunities for improvement and innovation, we respond with your needs first. You can now get your direct deposit funds two days sooner than before. We increased Wescom ATM withdrawal limits up to $1,200 a day ($600 per transaction). In the coming months, we will launch a complete redesign of our website. Our goal is to improve and customize your online experience while highlighting commonly accessed resources, using a consistent layout on each page to make it easier to find what you’re looking for.

Our purpose of building better lives means we also need to be active participants in doing things to better our communities. In an effort to support meaningful change, we’ve made grants through the Wescom Foundation to four local organizations – including the Pasadena NAACP #1054 – that are working to create a more just and racially equitable society. This fall, our nearly 800-team members are encouraged to participate in virtual community events such as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and Bike MS: Inside Out. Realizing that going back to school looks different this year, we want to help our local teachers and students by funding educational resources to help them succeed. Through DonorsChoose, a nonprofit organization that facilitates donations to public school classroom projects, Wescom funded 79 projects to help SoCal teachers buy educational supplies. We’ll continue supporting SoCal students through tutoring scholarships for college-bound high school students near Wescom branch locations. We hope that despite the challenges our youth are facing in their new learning environments, they know that Wescom is here for them every step of the way.

Instead of dwelling on the challenges that this past year has brought, we are positively looking forward to serving our members and communities while fostering a culture of innovation, service, and diversity. Although the road ahead may seem uncertain, what remains consistent and strong is our commitment to making a positive impact in Southern California. We’re here to serve you, whenever and wherever you need us.
